Cool Game Etiquette

Hello there Kalypso, I tried earlier to comment about something that I witnessed earlier this morning in general chat. Alfred made a joke about the Nazis and I thought that was not appropriate at all. Don't comments like he made fall under the guidelines about what is not ok to talk about in general chat. I wanted to let you know about this. I tried to send you a message, but that was not working at that time. I don't know, if you can go back and look at general chat, but you might want to and warn Alfred that any such comments could warrant some kind of punishment.

Hiya, smithy!

As we discussed earlier, what Alfred said, while distasteful to most here, doesn't really fall under "actionable". I refer you to JR's original post in this thead, regarding distasteful chat versus what can get you banned.

But to be clear, a following topic crossed the line in the chat. It has been investigated, the player has been warned and further steps are pending. Usually as the saying goes "one thing leads to another."

LOL! Ohhhh, yeah, that would solve many problems! Unfortunately, it would cause some too.

Due to recent events, this apparently needs to be reposted as a reminder to ALL.

A Few Words Regarding Bullying & Button-Pushing

The game rules specifically state that there is no limit to how many times or how often one player may attack another player's city(ies). Taunting your opponent in chat is also a big part of this game, and that's okay. That said...

It is never okay to bully another player in chat, gang up on them in a mob, and/or deliberately push their buttons until they break the rules out of frustration and anger. Period. Anyone caught doing so will share in the fate of their victim. Show some restraint and courtesy for the rest of the chatters.

In addition, if JR or myself request you stand down and cease said behavior, have enough respect for us to do so immediately and not exacerbate the situation further by insisting on getting the last 'zinger' in. We need you ALL to act responsibly and not make an explosive situation worse. We need the time to be able to sort a problem and work on a resolution without reaching for the Ban Hammer (or, in my case, Skillet). If someone insists on making our jobs harder, they will find they don't enjoy the outcome.

On the flip side of this issue... Someone taunts you in chat and you don't like it? Refer to JR's original post and decide if it falls into the 'Reportable' category. If it does, report and walk away. Close the chat window for a bit, or hang out in alliance chat. But don't react in a manner that could lead to your banning. If it doesn't fall into the 'Reportable' Category... Simply ignore it and move on to alliance chat or close the chat window. But, again, do not react in a manner that breaks the chat rules and gets you banned.

I hope this clears a few things up.

Cheers,
